Working Flexibly Group, Department of Premier and Cabinet
The Working Flexibly Working Group within DPAC created a ‘What Works for Me’ campaign developed as a creative and authentic way of delivering the goals of workplace flexibility and diversity. The campaign uses diverse individual stories from employees at the coalface regarding the different ways in which workforce flexibility allows them to balance work and home life, as anecdotal evidence from staff indicated many of them were not aware of how the department policies could be applied to produce an enhanced workplace. A strong communication approach of posters, and online communications, a well-attended launch event and panel discussion, and an intranet page with over 1300 views so far and featuring employees people recognise in the campaign rather than external actors builds strength and credibility to this program. It has been demonstrated to other agencies as an effective and low cost method of promoting flexibility in the workforce and could be easily adapted to other settings.
